This past week, armed with a foot-long hunting knife, 2 men attempted to break into the home of a recently widowed woman and her 3 month old child in Blanchard, Oklahoma.  While this is happening, the woman puts her son down in his crib, grabs a shotgun and dials 911 while the men continue to force their way in.    Eventually the intruders force the door open prompting the young mother Sarah McKinley to fire at the first man across the threshold, killing 24 year-old Justin Martin.  The accomplice, 29 year-old Dustin Stewart fled but was eventually taken into custody.   The State of Oklahoma has determined the Mrs. McKinley was in the right and won’t face any charges.  The accomplice, though he didn’t fire the fatal shot, will be charged with first-degree felony murder.

Once in a while, this country gets it right.
